The foreign minister, Celso Amorim said that Brazil is willing to mediate the conflict over Iran’s nuclear program, if there’s a call for any of the parties involved, according to Agência Brasil. Amorim also said he is disappointed that the deal brokered by Brazil and Turkey in May, was ignored.
The statement was made during the 8th Annual Conference of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), whose theme is The governance of Global Security and New Distribution of Power. The event ends today in Geneva, Switzerland.
The agreement established the exchange of low-enriched uranium for nuclear fuel, but the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) approved new sanctions against Iran.
