The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Patriota arrives tomorrow, 12, to Port-au-Prince, for accompany the electoral trial of the Haiti and offer Brazil’s help to the poorest country in the Americas, that besides has been devastated by natural disasters, pests and violence in recent years.
Brazil is going to donate US$ 300,000, through the United Nations Development Programme, for the achievement of the second round of the elections, in March, 20. Patriota must meet with the President of the country, René Preval, the prime minister Jean Max Bellerive and also the two candidates to the Presidency, both oppositers. Former First Lady, Mirlande Manigat and popular singer Michel Martelly, known as Sweet Micky.
Martelly was not formally chosen for the second round, but the Organization of the American States considered that there were many irregularities in the trial that elected the officialist candidate Jude Célestin in the first round, in the last month of November, as duplicities of ballots and voters prevented from vote. By recommendation of the OAS, the name Célestin was replaced by the name of Martelly.
