US Ambassador Remarks the Need of Improving Women’s Conditions

The US ambassador-at large for Global Women’s Issues, Melanne Verveer affirmed that she is identified with the words of the Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff, that improving the conditions of the women,means to improve the conditions of the whole society. “There is a great commitment of the Brazilian government. A challenge that we share”, declared Verveer, upon visiting the Special police station of Service to the Woman (Deam, for its acronym in portuguese), in Brasília, one of the first created in the country, in 1987.

Verveer, that finished today her three days visit to the country, also was in Recife, in the last Thursday and praised the programs of transference of earnings from the federal government, as the Bolsa Família Program, and the initiatives for the enclosure of the women.
